I haven't posted anything in quite a while.  I've done doodles almost everyday but nothing worth putting up.

However, about two months ago I started writing and selling short stories under a pen name.  One of those stories just took off with sales (almost 50 copies sold in the last 3 days) so I'm hoping, with putting up at least a story a week, that within a year or so, I'll be making enough to quit my job and have more time to draw comics.

I've always been self conscious about writing.  I'm a terrible speller and I'm a super slow reader.  Figured I'd never be able to write.  But other writers I have been networking with have been very encouraging and it turns out I might have a knack for this.

Never thought I'd ever see self employment but it's slowly becoming a reality.  We shall see what happens.

I just started my new intermediate figure/portrait drawing class.  It's all day Saturday for five weeks.  I learned a whole hell of a lot on my first day and had fun in the process.  But man I was tired after standing drawing all day.  I wish I could have captured the model better but hey that's why I'm in the class.  He was a really cool looking guy.

Just figured out how to do folders.  Figure it will encourage me to put some more stuff up.  I would scan my sketchbook but that seems so cheap.  I'm trying to finish something first before displaying it.

I have a script.  I have a storyboard.  Now I just need to draw it.

Oh hey, look, it's Angry Birds!  :P:

Just came back from SDCC and it has been a very informative experience.  Learned some tips for coloring and got some resources.  It was also fascinating to hear two of my favorite artists describe two completely ways of drawing.

Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise, Echo) talked about how he doesn't use a reference for his characters (not including character folder I'm assuming).  As in he doesn't have a model.  All his stuff is based on his understanding of human anatomy.  On the other hand, Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan, The Boys) spoke about how he uses references (models) for his work.

Both very good artists.

Right now I'm on a reference basis, I need a model to make it look good.  But I'm seriously thinking I need to focus on anatomy.  However, drawing accurate skeletons and muscle structure can be so tedious.

A lady at my work wants to pay me to draw a nude for her.  At first she was saying she would pose for it and I'm way not ready for that kinda pressure.  I told her I could draw from a picture and it would turn out better because I could spend more time on it.  My wife is stoked about it but did ask "is she trying to get into your pants?" XD

If this goes through, it will be my first paid commission!

BTW: I'm back in contact with MY paid commission artist and looks like he hasn't forgotten about us.  YAY!
